Hello! My name is Jackie Preston and I am excited to begin my 12th year teaching with the Deer Park Dance Program. I began dancing when I was 12 years old. When I was 18 I was offered the opportunity to take over the Tiny Tots classes, and I have been with the program ever since. I currently teach Tiny Tots and Hip Hop classes but have also taught swing, flag, ballet and clogging.
I grew up in Deer Park and attended Deer Park High School where I was on the Dance Team and Colorguard for 4 years. After graduating high school, I began teaching classes at the studio, and working at a summer camp where I taught Hip Hop. I have also taught Hop Classes at the Mayerson JCC in Amberly. Last summer, I spent 2 months teaching Hip Hop in Israel. I was previously the assistant Coach for Deer Park High School’s Colorguard squad for 5 years. I am also involved in the Parkers Variety show at Deer Park High School, where I choreograph the Boys Kickline and Swing dances.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati in 2012 with a Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am a Preschool teacher at Madeira Elementary and am currently attending Grad School one night a week at Xavier University. I am 3 classes away from my Master’s degree in Reading Education. I spent the summer of 2016 teaching English in Israel to children in low income areas. I was a rewarding experience that I am happy to bring back and share with others.
“I teach to inspire, to connect, to communicate, to share my knowledge, and to express my love and joy of dancing.” –Helanius J. Wilkins
My goals as a dance teacher are to provide a fun and safe learning environment for all students, use positive encouragement, provide constructive feedback, and to create a safe and respectful learning environment for all dancers. It is important to me that my classes are not just an extra-curricular activity; Dance is an opportunity for children to have fun learning something new with the freedom to express themselves through movement.
I’m Miss. Ashley and I’ve been with the Deer Park Dance Program for 7 years. I love all forms of dance, but mainly teach jazz, lyrical, and ballet.
I’m a Health Fitness Specialist where I personal train and teach group fitness classes. I was a member of both the University of Cincinnati Dance Team for 1 year and Northern Kentucky University Dance Team for 3 years where I competed at the Universal Dance Association’s College Dance Team Nationals.
I’m a graduate of Northern Kentucky University where I received my degree in Exercise Science and minor in dance.
I work fulltime as a AFAA Aerobics and Fitness Association of America certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and certified Zumba instructor and CPR/AED certified
I teach in hopes of opening my dancer’s eyes to all that dance can offer them. I aim to give my student’s the proper tools to become successful. Any individual improvement big or small is an achievement in my book.
